about chloe

Chloe was born on 25th August 1990 in Toowoomba, Queensland and began gymnastics in 1995 after receiving a trampoline as a Christmas present. Within a week Chloe was doing somersaults and landing on her feet!

The next month, Chloe began Kindy Gym at the local PCYC. Her coach Georgia Stewart first saw her abilities and potential and Chloe moved to the Toowoomba Gymnastics Academy where she was coached by Kerri Lange.  Here Chloe managed to complete four levels in two years.

In May 1999, Chloe was asked to join the elite training group at the Queensland Academy of Sport in Brisbane but her family declined.

In 2000, Chloe was granted a scholarship to train at the All Stars Gymnastics Club in Toowoomba where she was again coached by Georgia Stewart.

In October 2000, Chloe was again asked to join the elite group and this time her family accepted the offer and moved to Brisbane (approximately 110 km away) in January 2001. Here she began her training under coaches Olga and Sasha Belooussov.

In late 2001, Olga and Sasha moved to coach the new elite women's program at Moreton Bay College (a Brisbane girls school) and Chloe followed.

Chloe first began making a name for herself when she won five gold medals - the all-around and all four apparatus titles - in the sub-junior division at the Australian National Championships in 2002.  Chloe moved in to the junior international division in late 2003 and has been on the Australian national team since 2004.

As a junior, Chloe has competed in numerous international competitions including the 2003 Canberra Cup,the 2004 Cefta Cup in the Czech Republic, the 2004 Youth Commonwealth Games, the 2005 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, the 2005 dual country meets against Ukraine and China and the 2005 International Japan Junior.

In 2006, Chloe moved in to the senior international division which meant that she was age eligible to compete for Australia in senior international competitions such as World Championships and Olympic Games.  She started the year off in excellent fashion by winning two Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne - gold with her team in the Women's Team competition and also an individual gold in the Women's All-Around.  She went on to compete at the Shanghai World Cup meet in July, however an untimely knee injury kept her out of the World Gymnastics Championships in October.

In 2007, Chloe competed at the French International and Cottbus Cup Grand Prix meets and went on to take the Gold medal on bars at the Australia vs China International Apparatus Challenge.  She also competed at a dual meet against Japan and was a member of Australia's World Championship team that qualified for Beijing in Stuttgart.

Chloe has already achieved much in her gymnastics career to date. She has won the Gymnast of the Year title at Moreton Bay College three times (2002, 2004, 2005) as well as receiving numerous other school sports awards. In November 2005 Chloe was in esteemed company when she was named as a nominee in the 2005 Queensland Sportswoman of the Year Awards.  In 2006, the awards have continued with Chloe being named the Australian Junior International Gymnast of the Year (for 2005).  She has also again been nominated in the Queensland Sportswoman of the Year Awards and also for the Coca-Cola Channel 7 Queensland Junior Sports Star of the Year Awards

Chloe is a very determined young lady and according to family 'once she makes up her mind to do something, nothing will stop her'! 2006 was a big year and Chloe looks certain to continue her past successes in to the future.
